Work Experience

  • Fall 2019 Spring 2022

    Worked as part of a team funded by a Fulbright Scholars Grant

    Prepared an article for publication which examines how scientists factor indigenous rights and into the creation of Marine-Protected Areas using Geographic Information System software

    Conducted research on the history and practices of shark fishing in over 200 coastal countries, using Excel to create a global map detailing the current state of conservation legislation by region

  • Summer 2021

    Devised an action-plan to increase MCMA’s social media outreach, presenting to the museum’s Programs Coordinator and Associate Director on creative ways to use social media as an educational tool

    Led the upcoming overhaul of MCMA’s website by reviewing successful museum website strategies, interviewing specialists from peer institutions, and researching best practices for digital accessibility

  • Spring 2021

    Organized and catalogued over 120 extant garments from the 1820 - 1940 in preparation for an exhibition on the collection’s digital archives

    Responsible for giving tours of the collection and supervising visits from students and staff to study the garments

  • Summer 2020

    Researched and designed an exhibit currently on display at the Hubbard Free Library in Hallowell, ME on colonial women’s fashion, paying particular attention to the histories of the working class and women of color

    Created eight garments for a c. 1790s women’s ensemble using period-accurate fabric and sewing techniques

  • Fall 2019

    Assisted in the creation of women-specific forestry programming in partnership with UVM Extension, the Delaware Highlands Conservancy, and Vermont Coverts

    Wrote and presented a policy brief from a compilation of research on gender in forestry and interviews of WOW leaders from across the country

  • Summer 2019

    Conducted archival research and on-site troweling of medieval glass and bone to uncover the architectural history of a Gothic cathedral in Northern France 

    Created plans of the facades accurate to each stone and along with team, drew and photographed over 500 artifacts

Awards & Publications

  • My work in studio art was recognized by the Tidal Shift Award, a juried art prize seeking to recognize emerging young artists confronting the climate crisis. Video interviews of myself and other winning artists discussing our work can be seen at https://www.tidalshiftaward.com/about

  • My research on shark finning legislation was included in an article accepted for publication in the peer-reviewed Journal of Marine Policy. The article is titled, “Fins and (Mis)Fortunes: Managing shark populations for sustainability and food sovereignty.”

  • My team’s research with the Brown University Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology was accepted in the French journal Le Collector: Bulletin du reseau européen de l’Ordre de Tiron.
