From inception…
…to creation!
As an intern for the Vaughan Woods & Historic Homestead, I researched and created an exhibition on colonial women’s fashion, paying particular attention to the histories of the working class and women of color. This process involved sewing eight garments for a c. 1790s women’s ensemble using period-accurate fabric and stitching techniques.
Draping & Foundations
Under the tutelage of Carol Wood, Middlebury College Costume Shop Director, I learned the basics of corset building, as well as historical & contemporary pattern making.
Recreating the Cinderella dress.
As a learning experience, I attempted to drape a pattern for a dress from Cinderella (2015). This is the first mockup of the garment I made. I became very familiar with the skill of cartridge pleating!
